Metaphors and simile...sounds like a good combination for a sandwich.
Don't you think so? Excuse me, but I would like a ham metaphor with olive simile on the side...
HA! Maybe in my world...so move on!
What is a metaphor? Well, spelled M-E-T-A-P-H-O-R, a figure of speech where a word or phrase is used to describe another word.
EXAMPLE...
Life's a journey = describe the ups and downs of our lives
Time is a thief = time is slowly draining our present looks and preparing us for the future
Revenge is sweet = sweets make us happy so achieving revenge makes me HAPPY!
The moon is like an overbearing parent = Mr.Moon, stop becoming my mum and stop hovering above me!
It's raining cats and dogs! = heavy rain...not fluffy, cute big-eyed cats and dogs dropping form the sky.
Now moving on to my good friend Mrs Simile...is a comparison of two unlikely items. Using as...as a or like.
Confuse? Let me show you some EXAMPLES...
As big as a bus
As fast as a cheetah
As loud as an elephant
As cruel as a lawyer
As red as blood
Now we have explored the world or Metaphors and Simile...
EVERYONE GIVE YOURSELF A HAND!
YEAH!
And remember...life is simple. Why complicate things?
